The World Championships!!!!!!
At the State Championships it was revealed that the CW Tech Robotarians have qualified for the World Championships for the third year in a row. This year, the World Championships will be bigger than all previous years. While last year there was about four hundred teams visiting from all over the globe, this year there will be roughly six hundred, about ninety of which are going to be from Michigan alone. On Wednesday morning, April 22nd, our team will be traveling to Saint Louis to compete against teams from all over the globe, including Australia, Turkey, Brazil, and many more. We are not the only Robotics team from our neck of the woods going to the World Championships this year, the Berrien Spring’s GreengineerZ, 3452, and Saint Joseph’s Average Joes, 3620 will be attending as well.
The travel expenses will be about $12,000. Whirlpool Corporation has generously offered to match up to $4,000 for each team. Saturday morning, the Robotarians will be holding a bake sale fundraiser at the Saint Joe Township AYSO field (On Maiden Lane) 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. On Sunday from 12 to 4, the team is holding a car wash at the 1st Congregational Coloma UCC Church on 182 South Church Street. We are also asking for donations. Any support will be greatly appreciated. Checks should be written to Coloma Community Schools (Robotics on memo line) and should be mailed to 300 West Saint Joseph Street, Coloma, MI 49038 or will be picked up if you call Dale Quattrin at (269) 208-4626.
The eight fields of the World Championships are Archimedes, Newton, Galileo, Curie, Carver, Hopper, Tesla, and Carson. One field, during the Finals, will be converted into the field all are playing for, the Einstein Field. You can watch the CW Tech Robotarians playing on the Tesla Field, the Average Joes in the Hopper Field, and the GreengineerZ on the Curie Field. Matches start on the 23rd and Eliminations are on the 25th.
In this, it can be seen that success and failure will be tasted by all, friends will be made, and fun will be had. Wish us luck!
